It was a good day after all!
Gimme a woot!!! I woke up pissed at the world this morning with some less than constructive things and people on my mind, but my day has gotten progressively better! Mid-afternoon I got an invitation to watch a band tomorrow night with some really great people in downtown Dallas. That made me happy enough, even though I may not go this weekend (feelin’ a little fluish). I finished my night class early, since they had to do an in-class essay exercise and a homonym quiz. After they were done I let them go, and I got home around 7:00. I talked to Mom a while, fixed dinner, and then we finally checked the answering machine. I had a message from the local library! I applied for a part-time summer position to help put away some extra money for grad school and to get some library experience for when I start my MLIS. I’m gonna call her back early tomorrow, and hopefully something comes of this. I really need the money, but more than that, I would looooove workin’ for the library. I would be doing library card drives, kids programs, etc. Cross your fingers and toes!

I guess I just got the answer to my question.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy you MLIS, I did it last year and it was sheer hell. Well I did the HDipLIS which is the same only without the thesis. Most boring college year of my life, but it's over and done with, so that's all good.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on the library job!!! I would love to be surrounded by books all day long and to get people interested in them as much as I am.
ReplyDeleteKeep me posted!!!!
fun! libraries are cool. you should have a blast at that job, and maybe theyll give you a discount on checking out books....oh wait....never mind. anyway, still cool!
ReplyDeleteval- i'm technically due august 27th (death heat) but he is a week ahead of schedule which puts him on the 22nd (lance's birthday!!) so i'm all about the week sooner!!!!! I've already warned my coworkers not to come within ten feet of me during that last month. I do NOT plan on being nice. :)
Anon: If you're Billy, I thought I answered that question when we talked last. It could've been different.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good luck wishes!
ReplyDeleteClack: Tht 'd be sooo fab to have him on Lance's b-day. Shoot for that. lol
Good luck Andi with the lib job. I wish I could afford to work at the lib. Alas, I need the $$$.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you too clack...I was preggers all the way through to early Oct and it was soooo hot! I'm planning for a winter baby next!
ha!i spent my whole life making fun of my mom for having my brother in the august heat....looks like she'll be the one laughing this time around! bad planning...what can i say?
ReplyDeleteI'll be sure to "schedule" it for his birthday, del. I've heard it works that way if you REALLY have will power. ;)
Heather,
ReplyDeleteThe lib job will put me up to where I was when I was teaching full-time in NC. Woot! Still not a lot, but better than the 4 summer classes I'm scheduled for! lol There's extra news to do with the job, which I'll post in a few!
Clack,
My mom was preggers with me during the heatwave of 1980. No wonder she didn't risk having another one. lol
no kidding!! why do that twice???
ReplyDeleteso you may be moving back to NC? you are the movingest person in the world...
oh heck no! i just misread that. chalk it up to pregnant stupidity..
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you got that. lol
ReplyDeletei truly hope your MLIS experience is better than mine. i graduated in june of 2004 and found it to be a most painful and impractical experience. i seriously have never dealt with so many egos and so much bullshit before in my life! sorry, not wanting to scare you but if you need someone to bitch to about the program (and you will), i'm here and will TOTALLY understand. :o)
ReplyDeleteOoh, lots of MLIS fans up in here! But really, thank you for the offer. Most of the program I'll go into (if I still do it after my MA in English ) is online. Think that would help? I'll take you up on the bitching, I'm sure. I likes to bitch!
ReplyDeleteHey Clackers- Go for a scheduled induction, I did with both, not really by choice. You know both of mine were born in the winter, I think that I'm shooting for spring or fall next!! Yea, just to be safe, just DON"T talk to anybody!!! I don't think that Dave wanted to ever come home from about 7 1/2 months on!!! HAHA
ReplyDeleteCooolll. I am applying to get my MLIS at Drexel online. I've sent stuff off and now I am waiting to see if I get in. Good Luck to you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE working in a library!

ReplyDeleteHelp me Dude, I think I'm lost..... I was searching for Elvis and somehow ended up in your blog, but you know I'm sure I saw him in a car lot yesterday, which is really strange because the last time I saw him was in the supermarket. No honest really, he was right there in front of me, next to the steaks singing "Love me Tender". He said to me (his lip was only slightly curled) "Boy, you need to get yourself a San Diego cosmetic surgery doctor ,to fit into those blue suede shoes of yours. But Elvis said in the Ghetto nobody can afford a San Diego plastic surgery doctor. Dude I'm All Shook Up said Elvis. I think I'll have me another cheeseburger. Then I'm gonna go round and see Michael Jackson and we're gonna watch a waaaay cool make-over show featuring some Tijuana dentists on the TV in the back of my Hummer. And then he just walked out of the supermarket singing. . . "You give me love and consolation,
ReplyDeleteYou give me strength to carry on " Strange day or what? :-)
