Back to reality....

I'm working from 11-8 today. What is it about working a weird, shifted shift that makes it feel like the day lasts forever? It's still 9 hours with lunch...just a regular day....but when it lasts from 11-8 it feels like a bloomin' eternity.

And the media is absolutely freakish. On the Today show they have kids getting into the Guiness book of world records (for kids, I think). First was the water balloon toss, and now they're sorting jelly beans with straws. Where the hell did I put my book?

Ooh! A boy just knocked his nuts on his partner's head. Stop it you pervs...they were doing leap-frog.

  1. i totally agree with the weird shift thing. the longest day of my week can be when i work the occasional saturday from 9-1. 9-1!! that's only FOUR HOURS but it feels like my entire life. the eight hour days go by MUCH more quickly.

  7. I understand the late shift thing. I was working 1 to 10 and then 12 to 9 for over a year. It got old real fast and no matter what, it always seemed to be a longer day that way.

But hey, you can get to maybe catch an early episode of Springer or Maury, right? That's always good for a laugh.

  9. Ago,
I would've killed someone if I had to work the 2-10.

  11. Cher,
We're forbidden to read while we work. Because "there are always other things to be done." I get around this by reading books online or surfing book-related websites.

  14. Cincy,
If I watch Maurie or Jerry I tend to go to work and my first patron gets the, "Whassup bitch?" greeting. It doesn't go over well.
