OH MY GOD!

A prof just e-mailed me to invite me to review the Fables series of graphic novels for an upcoming special issue of an academic journal! It'll be my first academic publication.

SSSSCCCRRREEAAAMMM!!!

My CV NEEEDED this if I'm to get into Illinois or Florida!
*pant*

It's especially special since Fables is my favorite gn series, the first one I ever read seriously, and it was the subject of the first paper I wrote in grad school AND the first paper I gave at a conference. This series has been good to me!

  6. W00t!

I've just started reading the whole Fables series, and am really enjoying them.

On the down side, that means I have spend money to buy them, but on the up there are plenty out there for me to read.

  17. A very good friend of mine has been co-writing the Fables spin-off, Jack of Fables. I think the first issue is out next month since they had an 8 page preview in this month's Fables. From how he talks about it, I think I may be picking up a new habit.

    Have fun with the review!

  19. Yay, Suzz! I'll bring the dip!

FindingHeart, that's too cool! I'm excited to read the Jack stuff. I rarely buy the comics by issue, but wait for the collections instead. It sucks living in the sticks with no comics shops around.

    Thanks, Denaroo!

  20. I'm a huge fan, have been buying Fables since issue one rolled off the presses. Those James Jean covers are to die for, especially the one for the latest issue, #50. You'll have to post your write up of it because I'd love to read it.

  21. Carl, I sure will (post the review, that is). The covers are luscious. Can't get enough of them. And I don't think I've seen the cover for #50. Must Google.
