Jump Around! Jump Around!

Done! Passed!

It took just under an hour for me to defend my thesis proposal (pretty short) and only about 5 minutes of deliberation for them to call me in to tell me I passed. The whole thing went pretty smoothly. I was pretty nervous on the first question and burbled around a bit, but overall I feel good about it.

Now I get to write the thesis! A full draft is due in to my committee by February 1st, and the plan is to defend on March 1st. Holy shit. Gotta do a lot of work over the holidays.

But for now I'm off to Dallas to rape Half-Price books, gnosh at the Cheesecake Factory, and drink till sunrise.

It feels GOOD to have this part finished.

  4. Yay!! Enjoy your cheesecake and books.

I'm sitting here in Ft. Worth waiting to go have breakfast and then on to TCU for the big graduation. I have enough room in my suitcase for at least a half dozen books and Half Price Books is just a hop, skip and a jump away (if there's still a store over on Hulen). Might have to squeeze that in between graduation and dinner. Hmmm... :) Hey, where's the cold weather?? I brought cold-weather clothes and it's supposed to be 80 today. Argh!

Anyhow, a huge congrats to you, Andi. You've worked damn hard.

  6. Os, isn't that the truth!

Heatheroo, we had a fabulous time! Full report forthcoming.

    Nat, thank you!!!

Les, this weather SUCKS. Sucks I tell you. It definitely doesn't feel like Christmas when it's 80 outside. Enjoy your Half-Price shopping! I got quite a few last night at the big 'un on Northwest Highway.

Dale, you can say that again. :)

    Soj, woohoo!

    Heather, I practically did!

  9. Ohmygosh! I totally missed this because of my challenge posts bogging me down and that stupid beta thing hanging me up everywhere.

    CONGRATULATIONS, Andi!!!!!!

Okay, I just read Les's post and I had to laugh. I turned on the A/C on Sunday. December in the South is a real bummer, sometimes, isn't it? I envy your Half-Price books. I want to hear your thoughts about some of those books. I read The Secret Garden about 10 years ago and loved it. The Chocolate Wars was one of those books that I started but stopped because it wasn't the right time and I had too many books going. Real "guy" stuff, I thought.

I've never seen a review of The Unbearable Lightness of Being - definitely want to know what you think when you get to that one!!!

Gosh, you have me drooling, here. I miss my outlet store! I peeked into our new full-price independent and . . . get this . . . it's closed on Mondays. Including Monday the week before Christmas. Sheesh. It looked pretty pitiful. I'll probably drive 50 miles for my book fixes, now.
