Books that jumped into my arms and magically came home with me...

The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston
A Fine Balance, Rohinton Mistry
Goodbye, Columbus, Philip Roth
Inappropriate Men, Stacey Ballis (just interviewed her for the April issue of Estella)

I also had my first tasty treat from Coldstone Creamery today: the "Birthday Cake Remix". Ohmagod. Cake batter ice cream, brownie chunks, hot fudge mixed through, sprinkles. My butt is expanding just thinking about it again.

  1. Today was a good girl's day out.

I just finished rearranging all the books I came home with.

  2. It was an eeeeexcellent girl's day. I'm still so full I could pop.

And I haven't arranged books yet. But I should!

  3. Goodbye, Columbus is a really good read.

  4. I love it when books decide to come home :) Look forward to your interview.
And, I can't believe you hadn't had Coldstone Creamery. Yum. Now I want some.

  5. "A Fine Balance" is excellent but it will rip your friggin heart out. You have been warned.

I have nothing but fond memories of "Goodbye Columbus" and should reread that again soon :)

  6. OMG I LOOOOOVE Coldstone. Love it!

I need some books to jump into my arms and come home with me. Soon.

Been meaning to read A Fine Balance for years.

  7. Nik, I've heard a lot of people say that. I can't wait to read it!

Iliana, I can't believe I hadn't had Coldstone either! It's soooo good. I want to try their cherry cheesecake blend the next time I go.

Soj, I had you in mind when I bought Goodbye, Columbus. I remembered your fond memories of it. And I remember Dena talking about how heart-squishing A Fine Balance is. It'll definitely be a summer book if I read it any time soon. I can't handle that long a book committment anytime soon.

Heatheroo, I'm gonna be in NC this summer. We MUST get together and chat and have Coldstone, yes?

  8. You're coming to NC??!??! OMG Yes! We HAVE to get together. OMG I'm soooo excited now!! Squeee!

  9. I've heard of the lovely Coldstone magic you speak of.

Sojourness is right about A Fine Balance but it's worth the damage.

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Blogger has been a beast lately, so I hope you do not have any troubles leaving your thoughts.
