Bummed, baby, bummed...

I'm wearing my sad face.

I didn't get the full-time position I interviewed for...twice. Ugg. I thought it was in the bag. So, now I'm following up about a part-time position teaching the same course. Between that and the freelancing I'd be fine, but it would've been soooo nice to nail down a full-time gig this early in the summer.

I also have applications active other places. Blah blah blah.

I'm back in Texas. My thesis defense is on Monday, so I've gotta work my ass off for the next 24 hours or so to finish the revisions and get them back to the committee. Wish me luck!

  2. I'm sorry Andi. That's such a letdown. Ah well, concentrate on your thesis stuff as much as you can and well when I'm sad I do tend to go for a good book and some chocolate. Helps a bit :)

  6. Oh, Andi, that's too bad. Well... maybe a better job will come along. Until then, here's some luck for your defense.

  7. I'm so sorry to hear that, especially after interviewing twice. I am often on the other side of that equation, interviewing people multiple times and then having to choose one. It never seems to be an easy decision and I often have more good candidates than I have jobs. Hope something perfect and full time pops up soon!

  8. This just means that something that will fit your life better is going to come along.

Oh and I'll pray for your finger tips because I know they are going to be raw after all the typing you'll be doing.

  12. Good Luck with the Defense. It is during my 559 class so I won't be able to be there for moral support or the random "throw you under the bus" question. I am sure you will do fine.

  13. Sorry about the job - that stinks...especially when you think you did a good job interviewing. Good luck, though, on your thesis defense!

  14. Sorry to hear you didn't get that job, but I'll bet you'll find one soon.

I wish you were here. I'd give you a slice of the lemon cake my husband made to try to make up for the fact that he's going to Australia without me. It's heaven.

  15. That was supposed to be "heaven on a plate." I have this trigger finger that causes me to post without finishing sentences, some days.

  16. Awww, poop! I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I know you sounded pretty excited about it and I'm sorry it didn't pan out. Those stinkers!

Enjoy TX. Hope it isn't raining so much anymore!

  17. I'm adding my sympathies. Earlier this year, I interviewed twice for a job I thought I had in the bag (after all, they ASKED me to apply). I didn't get it!

Sweet revenge, however: A few weeks ago, I noticed that the job was posted again. I found out that the guy they hired quit. No, I'm not going to chortle. I'm just NOT.

  18. That sucks about the jobs!

Good luck on the defense! I remember when I did mine-- it was like two hours long-- but I have no memory of the actual defense. I was a little stressed. I passed, though.

  19. Damn! Damn! Damn! I'm sorry to hear about this. Job searching is the most miserable experience. Good luck on your defense, and I'm glad to hear that N.C. is on the whole going well.
