Line of the Day

My mom and I were sitting at the breakfast table when she began to sing a slowwww, soft rendition of "Happy Birthday." It crawled, it meandered, it was drawn out. I thought she was still tired and singing half-heartedly until she said, "As you get older it begins to sound more like taps doesn't it?"

My first snorty laugh of the day.

  1. Double snort. And then there's the point where you can't hear the song at all without a hearing aid. Arrgh.

  2. HA! On my last birthday Hope, the nihilist, said "mom, why are you excited about your birthday? It just means you are closer to being dead!"

  8. Happy Birthday!! My brother always insists on singing an "alternative" Happy Birthday, in a very minor key, with these lyrics:

    Happy Birthday
    Oh Happy Birthday
    There's misery in the air
    People dying everywhere
    Happy birthday
    Oh Happy Birthday
Just one year closer to the grave

    :)

But seriously, have a great one!

  12. Hahaha! No wonder you turned out so fun. It's your mom's fault.
