I still love books!

Yes, oh yes, I do! In fact, there's a Half-Price Books right around the corner from my new place (mine and Chuck's place). We went exploring yesterday, and I ransacked the clearance section. I bought:

A Suitable Boy, by Vikram Seth
Bastard Out of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison
Into the Wild, by John Krakauer
Tis, by Frank McCourt

I also hit up the graphic novel section because it was MADE OF AWESOME!

The Contract with God trilogy (all in one), by Will Eisner
Embroideries, by Marjane Satrapi (have wanted this one FOREVER)

I'm tickled with my new purchases, and I can tell this could become a habit. Watch for an update on my latest reading coming right up!

  1. A Suitable Boy is one of my all-time favorites. Even though it is 1500+ pages, I was so sad when it ended.

  4. It would be dangerous for me to have a bookstore right around the corner.

  5. Hi, Andi! I agree with Bermudaonion. A bookstore within walking distance would bankrupt me. I'm glad things are awesome with you besides the graphics novels section! :-)

  7. Barnes & Noble is on the corner of my block. Literally. It takes a lot not to go in there every day.

I really enjoyed Into The Wild. Good read.

  8. Bastard out of Carolina is really good! I have A Suitable Boy as well. I need a suitable amount of time to set aside for that one, though. :)

  9. I can see having a bookstore right around the corner as actually being a bad thing... Good luck with that! lol Enjoy your books, though!

  12. The distance to the nearest bookshop helps me to control my reading habits, but only just.

  13. I'm scared of the size for sure, KnittingReader! But I'll get brave enough to start it one of these days.

    Michelle, I hope so too!

Lenore, I can't wait to try it. It looks awesome!

Bermudaonion, for sure! I'm sure my wallet will suffer for it.

    Thanks, Lezlie!

Nicole, I don't know how you resist! It would be too much for me.

  15. There are not so many graphic novel sections that are made of awesome, so it was really cool that you have one close by! Great picks.

  17. I read Tis ages ago and enjoyed it. Happy reading! To think how big my TBR tower would be if I lived that close to a bookstore.

  20. Having a Half-Price Books close by will *definitely* become a habit! I often lament the fact that the three in Kansas City are all quite a good drive away from me. Of course my bank account, and my wife, are probably rejoicing that it is so far away.

    Congrats on the new purchases!
