Outdoor Plumbing

I got off of work at 1:00 this afternoon, and Chuck and I headed out to the hospital for our second ultrasound. THE ultrasound. I was boiling over with excitement and actually led us to and sat in the wrong office suite for a few minutes before I realized the mistake. Ooops!
When we finally found the right office, Chuck and I sat laughing at really bad Tiger Woods jokes; again, we were so excited we were giddy.
When we got to the ultrasound room and all settled we got to see the heartbeat and the brain (huzzah!), spine, fingers, toes, the whole nine yards.
Then......
As the doctor put it, the outdoor plumbing. Clear as day. 100% sure it's a boy.
I thought that might be the case since we've only really had girl names picked out. Looks like we'll be starting from scratch now. Names in the running Aidan, Thane, and Chuck is still pulling for Titus (Mama says no).
When we left the office, we went to Target and bought a baby comforter, some receiving blankets (all covered in owls), and other items in lovely shades of neutral. We put all of these items in a neutral baby bag and put a blue plaid blanket and a Run DMC onesie (that would be Chuck's pick) on the bottom of the stack in the bag. When we finally finished torturing Rocketgirl and Rocketboy we let them each pull out one item a piece until they uncovered the telling items. Then we all screeched together and watched the DVD of the ultrasound.
So fun! Pictures to come...

  1. How exciting! I like both Aidan and Thane, but I'm sure you'll run through a lot of choices before deciding. What a fun way to tell the kids, too. Congrats again!

  11. Aw, congrats! I found boys' names easy to choose. We were stuck on girls' names right until the end. And we had a girl.

  16. You know when I think about it, I never thought that I would have different experiences with my children due to their sex. I always thought it was because of individual personality. However, there was one difference and I don't know what it was due to, but here it is...
Whenever I heard a big crash coming from the boys' room, I would ask "what was that loud crash?" and the boys would say "ah mom, it was cool, Josh got up on the top bunk, and jumped down onto the dresser, and the pulldown-desk thingy broke, and he crashed into the toy box and wham!"
Whenever I heard a big crash coming from the girls' room, I would ask "what was that crash?" and they would say "nothin'"

  17. How exciting!Congratulations!! For what it's worth, I think the Run DMC onesie successfully removes "Titus" from the name lottery. But whatever you call this child, it will be right. Brilliant way to let the rocketkids know, too!

  18. Congratulations! And I vote for Aidan.

  19. Congrats! I vote for Aiden as well (mostly because #1, I like it and #2, it's harder to find things to rhyme with it, which is something middle schoolers are really good at doing). :) Tell Chuck that Titus is out--just look at the first three letters and imagine the future.

  20. It is so fun to follow your journey which mirrors mine in 1991. I, too, remember the day we knew we'd have a son. My husband was so proud he circled the (cough) on the ultra sound and took it to work to show every one! Me? I wouldn't be so proud of two centimenters. ;)

I'm so happy for you three!

  23. Yeah....I think I'd veto Titus too. But I love Aidan. And Thane. For the record, little boys love their mama's something special. And it's a bond that is something seriously awesome!!

I'm so happy for you guys!!

  24. Aw, baby boy! Yay, yay, yay! If I have a boy he is either going to be named William Alexander or Alexander William (after great grandfathers) but i love the name Aidan!

  25. Awesome! :D I love the names Aiden and Thane too, but I'm sure I'll love whatever y'all come up with. (Except Titus...lmao)

  27. Congratulations!

And Ultrasound DVDs - wow, we've come a long way!

Funny story, and possibly not one I should tell you, but one of our friends were expecting a baby and an early ultrasound indicated that they were having a boy - until about a month before he was due, they had another - and nope, it was a girl! We went from calling her Jack to Leah - I still think Jack would make a great nickname and story when she's older!
