My favorite quote yet from The Lightning Thief:
In a way, it's nice to know there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong. For instance, when you're walking away from a bus that's just been attacked by monster hags and blown up by lightning, and it's raining on top of everything else, most people might think that's just really bad luck; when you're a half-blood, you understand that some divine force really is tryiing to mess up your day.I'm racing through this book like crazy!

I finished this book a couple weeks ago and I LOVED it, and I'm SO sad I can't pick up #2 RIGHT NOW. I have far to many ARCs that I need to read and review. But I'm dyyyyying to get to the 2nd one. How do you like it so far? :)
ReplyDeleteAlayne - The Crowded Leaf.
I see that many are liking this book. The cover is appealing and just looks like the story will be a good one. I don't know about knowing that someone is out to ruin my day would help me any. The day still sucks.
ReplyDeleteI really need to read the rest of this series!
ReplyDeleteAlayne, I adore it so far! I love mythology, and the ways Riordan is using these myths is very clever. I feel like I need to go read up on some of them again. Can't wait to get to #2!
ReplyDeleteNicole, the cover is very fitting--a great image and a great story. Highly recommended! I haven't bolted through a book (no pun intended) like this in forever!
Yes you do, Kailana! :)
I just read this book and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteAbout time you jumped on the Percy Jackson bandwagon! Love that quote.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this, yet, but Kiddo zipped through it (along with the first two Gallagher Girls spy novels -- he's insatiable), this week. He loved it. I'm supposed to order the rest.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this all over, and now I really must read it myself. I'm looking for books for my cousin's fifth grade son, as well, and this seems like a perfect fit for him.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover, love the quote, can't wait to read this book!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying this book so far! I have an award for you at my blog: http://bookwormcouchpotato.blogspot.com/2010/02/spreading-award-love.html
ReplyDeleteIt is a fabulous quote, isn' it, Melissa? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it, Amy!
Nancy, I went hunting for the second book this weekend, and my local B&N was TOTALLY OUT OF STOCK. I was irked and flabbergasted.
Bellezza, I think you're right! It would be great for your cousin's son. It's a really fun book, and I think you would like it, too.
Hurry, Kathleen! It's wondertastic!
Thank you, Dana!
I want to read it now that I've seen the movie trailer. It looks like a cool movie!
ReplyDeleteI bought ours at Target. Oddly, I had a terrible time finding the second one, but then I located it on an end counter.
