Personally: Ugg!
Spoken quietly to myself so no one else can hear...
"I will not make an A$$ of myself at work. I will not yell at this person for being immeasurably stupid. I will get through this day by biting my tongue repeatedly. And I will go home and read."
An educator's/reader's mantra for frustration. Steal it if ya need it! I'm fine, and I'll be back tomorrow with something other than a rant. Linkapalooza, y'all!

Oh, I like that mantra. Very timely :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful mantra!!! I'm pregnant and teaching 8th grade, so I really need to put that on replay in my head at all times.
ReplyDeletedoesn't take long, does it? I've only been back 2 days and this mantra is very fitting.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you! I've been having a similar day. I think to switch that mantra to a student/reader one. ;-) I hope you're on your way home now.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so so with you!! I have been chanting that mantra for over a week now YIKES!
ReplyDeleteHear hear! I've been having days like that for almost two weeks now ever since I got back from Texas...except for having someone else to resist yelling at for stupidity, I only have myself to blame... :(
ReplyDeleteMust be something in the air. I had to bite my tongue to not yell at some young kid who blocked me entering the library last night, and made me move. I felt I was in middle age at last when I thought, hey, I'm older, that young person should move instead! along with some unprintable thoughts about stupidity and general rudeness in society today.
ReplyDeleteMantra is right!
I can so totally relate. I had one of these days on Saturday, when it seemed like all the jerks were out for their daily stroll, and all needed to interact with me in some way!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I can only speak that mantra for a bit and then, because the TRULY STUPID ones never get it, I'll end up breaking down and enter the world of snark.
ReplyDeleteBut you've truly got to have no hope left. And of course, be over 18.
Great post...and mantra :)
ReplyDeleteI see that you are reading Wicked. Hope you are enjoying it. I recently read the sequel, Son of a Witch, which i loved.
I feel your pain.
