The time has come...
I now bestow upon you all my ridiculous Texas accent, a few moments of madness, and I really do mention some books. Oh, and there's a joke about a kilt.
This is my interview with myself. Err, my introduction for Armchair BEA. It's gonna be a great week, y'all!
.
And don't ya just love how YouTube picks the thumbnail where I look constipated? Constipated but introspective. Maybe?
Andi! Look at you! And you have an accent! I love it. You look and sound great. And Jamie Fraser, why am I not surprised. ;) That was fun! Thanks for doing it.
Yay for vlogging! You have an adorable accent - way better than my South Georgia twang. I've recorded several vlogs but have never had enough courage or patience with youtube to post them. Looking forward to more!
I love the Outlander series. I've listened to them on audio! I see you have CINDER on your stack. I absolutely loved it!!! What are you doing in Interactive media for your job? Are you not a full-time professor anymore? I'm an Asst. Professor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. I'm in the Library Science Department. Oh!!!! I totally love Jamie Fraser too!!! Great dinner date choice!! Also, don't be so hard on yourself about the Vlog!!! It was just fine! Enjoy Armchair BEA!!!
Thanks for coming by, Karin! So glad to know you enjoyed Cinder. I hope to get back around to it soon (life got in the way the first go-round).
I work for several different brands doing interactive media. A film, an enthusiast website, some industry (banking, mortgage) publication. It's a mixed bag but that keeps it fun. Most social media but we're integrating some video and app development too!
Wonderful to meet another prof! And Library Science! I have a partially completed MLIS. Maybe one day I can actually finish it off.
Thanks Estella, great idea for introduction. I hope I'll a mn to do it today, otherwise, it would too much look like last year's introduction. Do you have a nose? seriously? I didn't see it! lol as for your accent, I can easily beat you with my French accent! Emma @ Words And Peace
I'm jealous of your role as a full-time English teacher! I want to do that one day. :D And I love what you say about lightening up and blogging for the passion. EXACTLY.
I adore hearing any kind of southern accent; I miss them. Yours is great. And it's lovely to see your face. I always wonder why your gravatar is sticking her tongue out. Bravo for the part about book bloggers not having to be so ambitious!
Thanks, Jeanne! They are very comforting. I loved teaching in NC and learning some of the differences. But lots of similarities, too.
I'm a face maker (might've noticed in the vlog), and the tongue-out gravatar was just one of those moments. I use it everywhere. My only students are appalled and entertained by turns. lol
Great vlog! It is always good to see and hear the friends we've never met! It is so true - there are a number of book bloggers I visit and think of as friends. Book bloggers are a friendly bunch. Who knows? Maybe someday we'll meet :)
I guess a Texas accent is either too close to an Oklahoma accent or . . . maybe it's because I live in the Deep South? I didn't hear an accent AT ALL. Funny! You just sound normal to me. LOL
Lovely vlog, Andiloo! So exciting to see and *hear* you, for the first time. You must do that more often.
Yes, some of us do need to lighten up. I know I've put way too much pressure on myself in the last couple of years. To help with that, I totally quit accepting ARCs for a month. In fact, I was going to quit blogging, I felt so burdened. But, then I just couldn't, so I'm sticking around and I'm just going to enjoy myself, read what I want and keep having fun hanging out with other book fanatics.
Thanks for the shout-out! We have got to get together, sometime. I think Heather should join us. :) Happy Armchair BEA!! Love you bunches!
Aww, thanks, Nancy. I knew you wouldn't hear the accent. hehe
I will most definitely do that more often. It's fun and easy and I'm a relatively concise rambler as ramblers go. The teaching experience, I think...maybe.
And yes, I know the burden you're talking about. I've never contemplated (seriously) quitting blogging, but I am almost completely done accepting ARCS. Lord knows I have enough books, a library, and a Nook. And I hate deadlines to the bottom of my teacherly soul. I don't need any more pressure.
hi! nice to meet you. I'm still working up the courage to vlog so I admire you for doing it. love that you have a Southern accent, used to be obsessed with them when I was younger!
Um HELLO!!! I love this! (and might have teared a bit at the mention of my name...or was that Other Trish). Bahahaha! ;)
OK...ARE WE MEETING THIS MONTH OR NOT?! And I'm glad you mentioned who Jamie Frasier is because I was digging in my head for a bit on what he wrote. LOL--you sold me with kilt.
Thanks for putting a HUGE smile on my face today Andi.
Nice to "meet" you... great idea to do a vlog. Now why didn't I think of that! LOL
I've been following the gushing posts on Outlander. I bought a trade size paperback at a book sale last week... and it's all your fault! I don't need more books. :) Now I really don't have an excuse not to read this other than to make the time.
That was terrific! You make me wanna do a vlog. I'd have to rope a kid in it though so I didn't feel too selfconcious. And I'm not gonna back out! Unless the STAND takes over my life.
It was super easy, Audra. But I have a webcam built into my laptop. That's really nice, and you can do editing and uploading to YouTube straight from the program that records the vid. Highly recommended!
TOTALLY love this! Loved hearing your voice (Texas accent and all!)...and I loved Diana Gabaldon's series too (yay for Jamie...pant, pant). You really gotta read Beatriz William's debut novel - seriously!
I've been reading your blog forever and ever. I agree - we all need to lighten up. This is supposed to be fun, right?
Thank you, Wendy! Pant pant re: Jamie is right. hehe I'm ruined for all other bookish men. I will absolutely read it -- when I'm done with Outlander series. lol
We do need to lighten up! Stress causes burnout and that's no good.
As I said on Twitter, this was great! I enjoyed watching it. :) I have vlogged twice, but I haven't got any desire to do all the time. An occasional thing is much better for me. I look forward to more from you!
LOVE! I am so excited to see other people's vlogs. I have never vlogged myself because it terrifies me, but I adore hearing people talk and seeing their personalities come out in actual human voice and mannerisms and gestures. I shall now read your blog in your own voice.
OF COURSE you chose Jamie Fraser as your dinner companion. Hahaha, whisky and a kilt.
Hiya!!!! *waves* A vlog is fantastic! I am not brave enough for that. I LOVE your accent, i live in england :) I love youtube so i'm gonna check out your channel. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week xx
Awesome sauce, Andi! Love the interview. I suspect we may have been separated at birth...your answers sound very similar to how I would've answered them, and I think we even speak in a similar vein. :) Loved it!
This is great! (and I was thinking of reading Outlander since I have tackled a few big books lately and I understand that time travel is featured. someday)
Kudos for being brave enough to vlog! I have yet to work up to that. I have to laugh at the idea of Lisa finding enough time in her crazy life to read Outlander - I'm not sure where she finds the time to read at all. Oh, yeah, she doesn't sleep. Hey, did Trish get up and dance on the table when you went to see Ernest Cline?
Loved your vlog. You are so well spoken - I tried to make a vlog once and I said UMMM way to many times and then when I played it back I had no sound. :( I gave up. But I am trying again soon in July for a special tour. *fingers crossed that it works*
Your blog is lovely and I'm now a new follower. :)
PS saw that you had White Horse in your books to read soon - I loved it. Can't wait to see what you think of it.
I finally had a chance to watch your vlog, Andi, (I believe I was Nashville when it posted) and I have thank you for putting a huge smile on my face. It was so nice to finally meet you f2f, albeit on YouTube. ;) Love your accent, although it's not as thick as I anticipated. And I love your thoughts on the blogging community and how we all need to relax and be ourselves.
I'm looking forward to someday meeting you (and Trish & Nancy!) in Dallas. Sheesh. My daughter lives there. You'd think I'd get down there more often!
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I respond to comments individually by e-mail and/or here on the site. "No reply" bloggers will automatically receive a response here. I value community above all else in blogging, and talking with you all is the highlight of my blogging day!
Andi! Look at you! And you have an accent! I love it. You look and sound great. And Jamie Fraser, why am I not surprised. ;) That was fun! Thanks for doing it.
ReplyDeleteI do have an accent. Have tried and tried to get rid of it, but the darned thing just won't go away!
DeleteYay for vlogging! You have an adorable accent - way better than my South Georgia twang. I've recorded several vlogs but have never had enough courage or patience with youtube to post them. Looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you, Brooke! And I beg to differ. South Georgia accents are adorbs. You should definitely post one of your vlogs!!! I'd flail with joy.
DeleteYay vlog!!! :D Dont' worry, you didn't look weird at all. I wouldn't have even noticed the nose thing if you hadn't mentioned it, haha. ;P
ReplyDeleteLOL, thanks, Amanda. Was fun. Hopefully I can make time to post them more often.
DeleteI love the Outlander series. I've listened to them on audio! I see you have CINDER on your stack. I absolutely loved it!!! What are you doing in Interactive media for your job? The TX accent doesn't bother me at all - I'm in Nashville, so we get our share of accents over here too!
ReplyDeleteAnd LOVE Outlander. I feel like I manage to squeeze it into my posts all the time.
Pleased to meet you, and thanks for stopping by my Armchair BEA Intro Post.
Nashville! One of my very favorite cities. And have you visited Ann Patchett's bookstore? Parnassus?
DeleteAny excuse to mention Outlander is a good excuse for me! Thanks for popping in!
Thanks Estella, great idea for introduction. I hope I'll a mn to do it today, otherwise, it would too much look like last year's introduction.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a nose? seriously? I didn't see it! lol

Emma @ Words And Peace
Thanks for stopping by, Emma! I bet your French accent is simply smashing!
DeleteI'm jealous of your role as a full-time English teacher! I want to do that one day. :D And I love what you say about lightening up and blogging for the passion. EXACTLY.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jillian! It's a ton o'fun until the plagiarism cases start rolling in. LOL
DeleteI'm all about doing this for US. No one tells us how or what to blog!
I adore hearing any kind of southern accent; I miss them. Yours is great. And it's lovely to see your face. I always wonder why your gravatar is sticking her tongue out.
ReplyDeleteBravo for the part about book bloggers not having to be so ambitious!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie!!! Thank you for stopping in!
DeleteGreat vlog! It is always good to see and hear the friends we've never met! It is so true - there are a number of book bloggers I visit and think of as friends. Book bloggers are a friendly bunch. Who knows? Maybe someday we'll meet :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri! We book bloggers are a friendly bunch and I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's hoping to meet you and many others one day!
DeleteI guess a Texas accent is either too close to an Oklahoma accent or . . . maybe it's because I live in the Deep South? I didn't hear an accent AT ALL. Funny! You just sound normal to me. LOL

hi! nice to meet you. I'm still working up the courage to vlog so I admire you for doing it. love that you have a Southern accent, used to be obsessed with them when I was younger!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Elena! I hope you decide to vlog soon! :)
DeleteUm HELLO!!! I love this! (and might have teared a bit at the mention of my name...or was that Other Trish). Bahahaha! ;)
ReplyDeleteOK...ARE WE MEETING THIS MONTH OR NOT?! And I'm glad you mentioned who Jamie Frasier is because I was digging in my head for a bit on what he wrote. LOL--you sold me with kilt.

THANK YOU! That was totally you. I love all the Trishes but I was thinking of you. lol
DeleteWe ARE meeting this month! Because we are going to have All. The. Fun.
I aim for smiles!
This was a great first vlog, I loved it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thanks, Sabrina!
DeleteNice to "meet" you... great idea to do a vlog. Now why didn't I think of that! LOL

DeleteSooo glad you caved and bought a copy of Outlander. Even more, I hope you looooove it. :D
That was terrific! You make me wanna do a vlog. I'd have to rope a kid in it though so I didn't feel too selfconcious. And I'm not gonna back out! Unless the STAND takes over my life.
ReplyDeleteDo it! Do it! I did mine at work or I would've had the top of Greyson's head running back and forth across the bottom of the screen.
DeleteAnd you know The Stand is going to take over your life :D
I love that you did a vlog!!! How hard was it to do? I so want to do this -- it was a hoot hearing you -- super cute -- I wish I had an accent!!
ReplyDeleteIt was super easy, Audra. But I have a webcam built into my laptop. That's really nice, and you can do editing and uploading to YouTube straight from the program that records the vid. Highly recommended!

Andi, I love you and your blog so much I wouldn't have minded looking up your nose one bit! :)
ReplyDeleteDid I tell you before our hair is exactly the same texture? Oops, got off texture, but it's so nice to see yet another commonality between us...
Anyway, thanks for being my friend, for consistently leaving comments Chez Bellezza, and for writing such wonderful posts. xoxo
You can share one of those kisses with Grayson if you want. :)
Thank youuuu, Bellezza! lol
DeleteYay for curly girls, too.
Will definitely pass a kiss on to Mr. G. He will love it. :D
As I said on Twitter, this was great! I enjoyed watching it. :) I have vlogged twice, but I haven't got any desire to do all the time. An occasional thing is much better for me. I look forward to more from you!
ReplyDeleteThank you ma'am! I've loved your vlogs, by the way.
DeleteLOL... I said the very same thing about feeling like everyone knows everything already!
ReplyDeleteLove the Texas accent!
Vlogging...something I've never yet been brave enough to try!
I just finished Code Name Verity last night. Wow wow.
Ah! Loved that! Way to go! Nice to see/hear you. It was awesome. :)
And happy ABEA to you!
Suey, do it do it! You should take the plunge. Let's all vlog together!
DeleteI hope Code Name Verity gets really WOW for me really soon.
LOVE! I am so excited to see other people's vlogs. I have never vlogged myself because it terrifies me, but I adore hearing people talk and seeing their personalities come out in actual human voice and mannerisms and gestures. I shall now read your blog in your own voice.
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE you chose Jamie Fraser as your dinner companion. Hahaha, whisky and a kilt.
Thank you, Aarti! I'm sure a vlog of yours would be just lovely. And bless your heart for reading my blog in my voice. lol
DeleteAnd of course I did. Kilts are remarkably easy to remove when drunk (thank you, whiskey).
Hiya!!!! *waves* A vlog is fantastic! I am not brave enough for that. I LOVE your accent, i live in england :) I love youtube so i'm gonna check out your channel. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week xx
ReplyDeleteas a fellow texan, you don't have an accent at all! everyone else has an accent though. isn't that how it works?
ReplyDeleteI know people have said this already but I LOVE YOUR ACCENT! Don't apologize for it!
ReplyDelete"Blog for the fun of it and the passion" yes to this! More people need to keep this in mind when blogging starts to get stressful
Dude! You have an accent!! For some reason, I never pictured you with an accent...but it's great!
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel kinda special that I got a mention in your premier vlog.
Awesome sauce, Andi! Love the interview. I suspect we may have been separated at birth...your answers sound very similar to how I would've answered them, and I think we even speak in a similar vein. :) Loved it!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! (and I was thinking of reading Outlander since I have tackled a few big books lately and I understand that time travel is featured. someday)
ReplyDeleteLove the vlog, Andi! So great to see you. And hear you. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I'm so glad I discovered this blog. It's really fun. And you just made it funner.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing you and hearing you. Great vlog.
I don't stop in nearly enough and did not know much about you, so I thoroughly enjoyed the vlog. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteKudos for being brave enough to vlog! I have yet to work up to that. ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the vlog! It is great to see what you look like. I still haven't been brave enough to do one...one day....
ReplyDeleteI love your accent :) I enjoyed your vlog, I wish I was brave enough to do more of them myself, but I always chicken out!
ReplyDeleteAccent? What accent?
ReplyDeleteLoved your vlog. You are so well spoken - I tried to make a vlog once and I said UMMM way to many times and then when I played it back I had no sound. :( I gave up. But I am trying again soon in July for a special tour. *fingers crossed that it works*
