The Blogging Blargggs!

Ugh, y'all. Serious ugh. I know I've been whining pretty regularly 'round here, but I don't see any signs of that stopping until after September 8th (after our big work conference). I am blessed to have a job, but I will be SO GLAD when the madness slows down a bit.

I've spent my morning working at Starbucks while Greyson lounges with Chuck. I've just wrapped up posting new work for the coming week, so it's almost time for me to head back to the apartment, hang with the older kids for a bit, and we'll head home to finish up laundry, sniff what's crockin' (Parmesan Chicken), and drape ourselves over the couch. He'll probably watch Shrek and I'll read...something.

Sadly, North and South came to a screeching halt for me when work cranked up the intensity. While I had no intention of bailing on my own challenge, that seems to be what's happened. I will finish it, but it'll be after the 8th. In the meantime, Heather or I will still be posting the check-ins (they wrap up this week) and announcing PRIZE WINNERS!!! Can't forget those.

In the meantime, I think I'm better suited to the IT-Along.

Oh, and you smell another read-along? You're right. Heather announced our The Little Stranger Readalong which is an RIP event this year. Thanks to Carl for allowing us to get in on the RIP action.

Finally, we're soliciting more Estella Society content for September, so head over to this post to get some ideas!

And...I'm done. I've been sitting at this uncomfortable Starbuckian table for far too long. See y'all the next time I get a quiet moment!

    1. Samantha, I'm so glad you're in on our readalong! It's gonna be so much fun because this book scared the behoozies out of me when I read it. Looking forward to (hopefully) listening to it this time around.

  3. Andi I am hopping on a plane and coming over for some chow. Chick Parm is one of my all time favorites. And I hardly make it because Di is not big on pasta. Can you imagine?!?

Here's hoping that things settle at work. When your nose arrives (and it should, like YESTERDAY!) wear it to work if the bosses ever get on your nerves. I don't know if it'll actually HELP but it's surely going to make you feel better. Even momentarily.

    1. Come on, Christina! Although, you might be disappointed -- this parmesan chicken is a crock pot recipe with rice, some mushroom soup, parmesan cheese, etc. Kinda like a chicken and rice casserole, but still very tasty!

And I will totally be donning the nose at work. This place needs a fun injection some days!

  6. So maybe this year I should participate in the RIP challenge. I missed the Once Upon a Time challenge, but honestly, I'm so horrible challenges...

I DO want to read The Little Stranger, though! Hmm...

Hope things get better soon - GOOD LUCK with the next week or so of work!!

    1. Aarti, I'm generally really horrible at challenges, but I always ROCK RIP. It's just so atmospheric and fun, I can't help but succeed.

I hope you'll join us for The Little Stranger. It's a great creepy book with substance. Lots of class issues at play in this one -- one of my fave topics.

And thank you! I'll need it!

  8. Sounds like a frustrating week, and I can relate. I am glad that you at least have some time to relax before you have to get back to the grind of work. By the way, I've been visiting over at the Estella Society, and it's a great place to hang out!

The weekend break (a little of it) was great! Looking forward to this madness coming to a halt.

  9. The blogging blarggs... I think I can relate to that exactly! This whole year I just feel like I'm in overdrive with everything and so the poor blog gets no attention. Hope your week ahead isn't so crazy and by the way, what a cool read-along for the RIP Challenge. Awesome choice.

  10. North and South slows waaaaaaaay down, so it's easy to see why you'd toss it over for It. Maybe if Mags and Thornton had clown noses...

    1. That would certainly help, Jill! All classics need clown noses every now and again!

  11. I'm terrible at challenges and readalongs, but The Little Stranger readalong sounds right up my alley!!! I've been meaning to read another novel by Sarah Waters and this is at the top of my list. Yes, please.

    1. YAY! It's a really great book, Les. It was gripping enough that I busted through it. Although, it was also one of those books I wanted to slow down and savor. THAT good.
