I BOUGHT A NEW NOOK!!!!

And I'm a weeee bit excited about it.

There's not much to say except that I am a weak weak soul, and it was HALF OFF. How can I resist half off the big daddy of quality Nooks? Really? I can't be expected to hold out on something like that.

Here she is, all warm and cozy in her emerald green cover. I just wanna lick it.

And here is a shot of my gorgeous library.

Want to know more about how and why I caved? Check out the SPLURGE video below. And if you're so moved, why not subscribe to my YouTube channel? This is a serious addiction.

    1. JoAnn, I'm planning to keep my Simple Touch because it's easier to carry around. And definitely easier to read outside.

  4. I have 3 nooks, the original (which I've permanently lent to my sister in law), a tablet (which I carry with me where ever I go and use every day) and the HD+ . The HD+ is usually on my nightstand, but I don't really leave the house with it. I don't know what I'd do without my nook. Congrats! Enjoy it! And now you aren't subject to B&N's strict app policy, because you get chrome and google play on it. Woo and Hoo!

    1. Joanne, I think the HD+ will probably end up living on my nightstand or my living room side table. It's a great tablet, great size, but too darn big for my purse. I think I'll travel with my Simple Touch most of the time.

  5. I don't have an e-reader, but that green cover is awfully pretty! Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Lindsey! I usually get turquoise or something but the emerald just grabbed me.

  6. Ok, had to comment again because I love my e-reader. I have a Nook Color which I'm obsessed with, but I am a little jealous of your new tablet! Seriously though, my nook (with a Doctor Who cover) rarely leaves my side. After my eyes get too tired of reading, I switch to Netflix but who am I kidding, that doesn't happen often.

    1. Yayyy! Of course you have a Dr. Who cover! And I haven't yet gotten fully into Dr. Who on Netflix, but I am happy to announce that I'm a Sherlock fan, and Benadict Cumberbatch is the shiz.

  8. My wife and I have two Nexus tablets, two Kindles (one first or second, one later), one Nook (SimpleTouch with Glowlight). Personally, we love the Nexus because can use Nook, Amazon and Overdrive apps. Sometimes I have physical books on the shelves and rather would read them on the e-reader, because I can adjust the fonts.

    1. Bryan, y'all make me feel like I fit right in with my bevvy of devices! And yes. I do like the adjustable fonts, and sometimes I'm just not in the mood to carry around a big thick book. That happens a lot.

  9. Nice! They have an awesome sale on the HDs. If I didn't have a Nook Color that is still working great, I'd be getting one of those. Instead I'm planning on getting an E-ink one to cart around.

    1. Yes they do! The e-ink is glorious. I still have mine with no intention of parting with it.

  10. First, you are adorable! I love vlogs from my favorite bloggers. So nice to see and hear the people I enjoy "reading". I don't have an e-reader right now though I really super want one. I thought that I had won one from a publisher's contest but It was never sent. *shrugs* Just my luck. Hope you enjoy your fancy new toy! How is it on the eyes? I'm leaning towards one of the e-ink ones because I think that it would be easier on my old eyes.

    1. Thank you, Dana!!! I love vlogs too and have become quite addicted to watching book bloggers on YouTube. There's such a large, wonderful community over there that I knew nothing about! That's just nuts.

And that SUCKS that the publisher never sent your Nook. I'd definitely follow up with someone. I won a Nook Simple Touch with the Glowlight and gave it to my mom. She needed the backlighting more than I did, but the house I have now is not the best light for reading in the evenings. I'm liking the backlist screen. It doesn't bother me much and the brightness control is flexible enough that I can find a comfy setting. I do like the e-ink for their ease of reading (especially in the sun), and their small, portable size. I have one and I'm totally keeping it for those reasons.

    2. Will you share some of your favorite bloggers that do vlogs? I have only a couple but I love them. So cool to hear someone's voice.

Yep. I followed up with a couple of people and one person said she'd look into it but I haven't ever heard anything. Just my luck. It's the one thing I really really want but I just can't justify the expense right now. One day, though. One day!

I am afraid of the screens on the tablet being so much like reading on my laptop. I just can't do it anymore. My eyes go all crazy and I get a headache. Old age isn't for sissies...there's a reason why that phrase is so well known ;-)

    1. Ha! Not all 125 are new. Thank goodness. But I'm sure too many remain unread. Ack! Thanks, Jackie!

  12. Pretty!! I thought about getting one of those to replace my current tablet (which is very clunky), but I don't think the Nook will do all the stuff I would want it to do. I'm super jealous though!

    1. Thanks, Kim! I've been surprised at how much it will do. It even comes with a trial version of Microsoft Office for mobile. Woo!

  13. Clearly I carry a bigger purse than most of you - my Nook is kind of lost in my purse! I do love it for taking with me but I love it in bed, too because I can listen to music while I read. Double score.

    1. LOL, I used to carry a big one, and I've recently changed over to a small crossbody bag. Easier when I'm wrangling Greyson.

  15. That really is very nice, Andi! I do have a Kindle and I find that I go through periods where I use it and then months go by and it's just collecting dust. Now when I travel, I love having it because I can "carry" that many more books with me.

    1. Thanks, Iliana! I do go through moods, though my e-reader is always in heavy rotation because I rarely get to a bookstore and the best library is 45 minutes away.

  16. I use the kindle, but how is the Nook in comparison?

    1. Melinda, I've used a friend's Kindle, and I still prefer the Nook. There's probably not a ton of difference in functionality, but I like that the Nook supports epub and pdf files so I can download books from third parties.

  17. "Tired eyes." Excuses, excuses. ;)

I have an iPad with Kindle, Nook and Bluefire apps but I actually don't love reading e-books, so the poor thing gets used mostly for checking email and FB when I'm too lazy to walk to the computer. It's a 1st generation iPad and has some problems. The button to turn it off no longer functions, so I just set it down when I'm done and let it go off on its own. And, it has a tendency to shut down my windows while I'm reading updates or tweets. Hinky. But, I won't be able to replace it for a long time so it will just have to do.

    Enjoy your new toy!

    1. LOL, it was a lame excuse since backlighting (like computer screen backlighting) can ravage my eyes. What I should've said is that my living room is poorly lit (old lamps, not terribly high wattage bulbs), so the backlighting is nice while Greyson is playing and I'm sitting and reading rather than watching Batman. hehe

David has a first generation iPad and his is starting to get hinky, too. It runs really slow. Incidentally, he bought a Nook HD+ tablet a couple of days after I did. Love it!

    1. Lisa, amen sister. I still love my little Simple Touch. My eyes were jacked today so I've spent most of the day reading a physical book and the Simple Touch.

  19. Sweet! I got a Nook for Christmas and I still have yet to really use it a ton. But that's mostly because I've had issues with my Digital Editions. I'm anxious to get that sorted out so I can take my Nook on trips and be able to read as much as I want.
