Currently // July 15, 2013

Time // 7:40am

Place // Just got the boy dropped off at pre-school and rolling into the office.
Eating // Scarfed down some McDonald's oatmeal because I didn't have enough brain power to pack breakfast/lunch today.
Drinking // Unsweet tea.
Reading // I finished up a re-read of Matilda, by Roald Dahl, and I'm working on Owen Meany (of course!) and A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Watching // I knocked off an episode of Sherlock (re-watch) on Friday, and that's the extent of my viewing for the weekend. The boys had control of the TV which meant a lot of superheroes.
Pondering // What to read next! I really need to jump into Life After Life by Kate Atkinson for my book club, but I'm not terribly excited about it after all the hype.

Blogging // Setting up reviews for...

Promoting // Not so much promoting as reminding. If you're participating in the Estella Project, make sure you link up your three reviews before September 1 to be entered to win a $20 Amazon gift card!
Hating // Mosquitoes!!! Guh!
Loving // This weather! It's been in the 70s during the day and 60s at night for a couple of days now, and it looks like that will be the case for the majority of the week. This is unseasonable for summer in Texas, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts!
I'm also really excited that I can officially proclaim Greyson POTTY TRAINED!!! He's been Pull-Up free during the day for months, and he slept through the night in big boy pants last night. So proud!
My pensive Greyson.
Anticipating // Reading at lunch time.

    1. He's pretty stinkin' cute. I just couldn't resist. He looked so sweet and thoughtful. I will definitely give him a high five. And a purple popsicle which is what he's been begging for.

  2. Lots of folks reading Owen Meany this week. Never tried it, but my daughter hated it.

    1. Hi there! Yes, there's been an influx of Owen Meany. I help run the Estella Society website, and we're doing a summer readalong of the book. :) People seem to be polarized on whether they love or hate Owen. I tried reading it when I was younger, and I definitely didn't care for it. However, I'm really enjoying it now, and it's even made me laugh out loud a few times.

  3. Ack mosquitoes! Why aren't you excited about Life After Life? I'm finding myself feeling the same way about the book but I think it's because I let too much time pass by without reading it. I love that picture of Greyson. Enjoy your lunch break!

    1. I'm just kind of overwhelmed by the Life After Life hype. Ya know? I'll still read it, and I hope I love it.

I've tooootally enjoyed my lunch break. I'm gonna try to finish A Little Princess tonight. Yay!

  4. Congratulations on potty training! We tried that unsuccessfully for a while, then the baby arrived and threw everything off so I'm hesitant to try again now! I'll give it a while.

The Little Princess was one of my favourite books! I think ive reread it several times!

    1. Thank you! It really is so much up to the child. We tried with Greyson when he was closer to 2 years old, but it's really just a matter of getting past boys' stubbornness and them accepting that they're going to go potty.

I'm enjoying A Little Princess so far! Frances Hodgson Burnett's writing is so cozy. And I recall liking the movie, though I need to watch it again. I hope it's still on Netflix!

  7. Awww what a cutie! Congrats on getting him trained :) And ooh, I'm hating ANY bugs right now. Was laying in bed last night and looked over to find one on my arm! It wasn't a mosquito, but really any bug that decides to touch me is just not cool. Ew. Hope you enjoyed your reread of Matilda and find the motivation to start Life After Life!

  9. Such a sweet picture of him!
I totally get what you mean about not being excited about a book sometimes after so much hype. Hope it will be a great read for you though and tell us all about it!

  11. I started the feel the same way about Life After Life. I won a copy during Dewey's (yay!), but I think it's going to be one of my winter vacation reads, when I'm a little further out from the hype machine.

    1. Yeah, hopefully when I start reading I'll forget about the hype. We'll see how it pans out.

  12. I understand what you mean about too much hype. I will assure you that Life After Life is in fact fantastic, but the good news is that it will be good whenever you decide to read it. :)

I love that you are re-reading all of these wonderful books from childhood. I re-read a Nancy Drew book a few weeks ago. It was so much fun!

    1. Thank you for the vote of confidence, Lindsey! I'm probably going to start it over the weekend. I just finished Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake, and now I NEED to focus on Owen Meany.

Matilda was a great re-read. Unfortunately, I had never read A Little Princess before now! I just read The Secret Garden last year. Late bloomer. lol

  14. Woohoo for being done with potty training - I swear it's one of the worst parts of having young children. Of course, it means so many more stops when you travel but it's a good tradeoff!

  15. Congrats to the big boy!! Love that picture, btw!

We're having amazing weather up here, too. This morning it's rainy and only 60!!! Yesterday it was 51 when I woke up! This is unreal for July. I hope it doesn't mean winter will be here in September...
