My Unsung Purchases (More Book Buying Silliness)

Aww, hell. So I admitted to my 14-books-for-21-dollars haul, but I haven't actually divulged the e-book buying I've done (semi)recently. So here we go...

Yep. I'm weak. But I think these books say something about my mood. I'm jonesing for non-fiction and shortish stories!

Empty Mansions, by Bill Dedman, et al because Shannon reviewed it.

The Engagements by J. Courtney Sullivan because lots of people in my Feedly mentioned. None of whom I can find now, of course.

The Midwife's Here by Linda Fairley because I have that interest in midwifery.

Nightmarriage by Chad Thomas because a friend recommended it and it's a quirky memoir about marriage and kids.

Unclean Jobs for Women and Girls by Alissa Nutting, despite the fact that I want nothing to do with Tampa and downloaded this one when it was cheap and I was clueless!

The e-reader is such an easy sell. I'm never going to wipe out my TBR. Or even get it down to reasonable. OH WELL!

What have you downloaded recently?

  2. Hahahaha! I love this. I'm so excited for you to read Empty Mansions!
(let me come clean, I went to a whole other library sale the weekend after my last haul and didn't even say a word because I didn't want to look crazy - I think I bought about 12 books)

  3. I got an eReader recently and went a bit book buying crazy - this from the girl who gets 99% of her books from the library! I've banned myself from getting anything else until I'm done reading everything I bought. But it all started with Doctor Sleep.

  4. Fun! I've heard good things about The Engagements, though I totally did not click with Sullivan's Maine (and I think I'm the only one). Though I love my Kindle and use it often, I have to admit to never actually paying for an e-book . . . everything on there is a review copy. I think I'm a little scared to tumble down the rabbit hole of digital book-buying . . . I will be seriously broke! Too much instant gratification . . .

    1. Andddd I just realized I used a lot of . . . in my . . . comment. Maybe I was trying to be dramatic? Spooky? . . . Perhaps I need more caffeine?

  5. I don't even admit to half my ebook purchases. I think if I did several friends/family members would end up staging an intervention. Unclean Jobs sounds really interesting.

  8. I recently went on a book buying binge. The thing about it is, as soon as I buy one book I want to buy more and more and more and i just can't stop. I guess that's what makes me a book addict. Looks like you are one too!

  11. I don't read anywhere near as much on my ereaders as in print, but I still can't resist a good sale on ebooks....99 or 1.99 and I'm a goner. I don't even know exactly what I have on my Nook or my Kindle. Now, that needs an intervention :P

    1. I'm usually pretty evenly split just because of the ease of toting a book around that I can read on my phone or e-reader. I always have something going digitally. Right now it's Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler. And yes, those sales get me, too! :D

  12. I am actually really good about not buying copies for my Kindle because I know that I won't get to them any time soon. Print books are another story though...if they are super cheap, I can't help myself. It's a sickness. Of which I don't want a cure. :-)

    1. Ha! Definitely a sickness, but the best one!

  13. Empty Mansions is marvelous because it reads like fiction but it true. The scale of luxury is beyond imagining. And The Engagements is wonderful reading as well. About a ring but so much more.

As for your question- I'm a borderline Luddite and have nothing on my ipad right now.

    1. I'm so happy to hear that! I can't wait to jump into it. Maybe it'll be my next e-reader book.

Right now! What was the last thing you read on ipad? Or do you ever?
