Andi's off getting married (congrats, lady!), and she's letting me take over her blog for the day! To celebrate her nuptials, I'm sharing a post about how to throw a bookish wedding!
So you're getting married. The man (or woman, we're open-minded here) of your dreams has gotten down on one knee and asked you to be his/hers forever. It was all very romantic, but now you have to plan a wedding! Books are a major part of your lives, and you want your passion for the written word to be reflected in your big day. For all of you literary lovebirds, here are some great ways to add bookish touches to your wedding day!
Pre-Wedding Paper GoodsOnce you have your major wedding details hammered down and are ready to tell people about them, send out save the date bookmarks! There are tons of great examples around the internet, but these are two of my favorites. The typography of the first one is beautiful, and the Penguin-themed bookmarks are adorable!
The CeremonyAlthough getting married in a bookstore or library may be a bookworm's dream, securing one of these locations for your ceremony might be difficult. If you can't go to the books for your wedding, bring the books to it! Literally. Get married under an archway filled with books! Or, you know, garlands of paper flowers.
Help your guests find their seats with library-inspired escort cards! Print your guests' names and seating information on library cards and either lay them out in sleeves (like you would find in a library book) or tucked into a vintage card catalog.
When all of the cake has been eaten, many dances have been danced, and fun has been had by all, exit the reception in literary style. Depart from the celebration along a path lined by luminaries made from book pages!
Now that the most romantic (and probably most exhausting) day of your life is over, it's time to head back to the hotel, share a private glass of champagne, and read a goodnight story. May I suggest the Kama Sutra?
