Bout of Books Goals!

One of the best parts of a readathon--in this case Bout of Books 10--is all the goal setting and list making and book gathering. Right? I assume I'm not alone in that nesting portion of it.

GOALS! Goals time. I hardly ever live up to my reading goals, but it's worth the good ole scout's, college, whatever try.
  1. Read three books (of any length)
  2. Read one book from my 2014 TBR Challenge stacks
  3. Visit and comment on at least 20 blogs from the list of participants
  4. Make two BookTube videos about my progress
I'm going pretty easy on myself this time. I think this time last year I read something crazy like six books in a week. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't... oh well. I love trying! And trying with a bunch of other bloggers reading with me.

Here is my "potentials" pile, which looks oddly like my Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon "leftovers" pile. Just sayin'.
  • The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri (from TBR Challenge stack)
  • The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
  • The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld
  • Love Begins in Winter by Simon Van Booy (from TBR Challenge stack)
  • The Professor's House by Willa Cather
  • The Slaves Have Names by Andi Cumbo-Floyd

What are you reading during Bout of Books?

  1. You've made me laughed with your: "Here is my "potentials" pile, which looks oddly like my Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon "leftovers" pile." ;)

I'm finally going to participate and we'll see: you've convinced (and inspired) me. I have still to write my signing up post and my goals but I know which books will be on my list (mainly "leftovers" ;)

    1. Haha, thank you! It's probably pretty anticlimatic for those who followed along with my Dewey's reading, but I still need to get these babies read! :)

I'm glad you've decided to participate and that your schedule works. Looking forward to checking out your "leftovers," Flo!

  4. I love the lists and preparation before hand...it's fun! :)

Those are great goals! I am setting my goal low, at 2 books, since it's my first time participating and my norm for a week is one book.

    Have fun!

  7. No matter how much nesting you do, after Dewey's this one must feel like you're just twiddling your thumbs waiting for the event to start. Good luck getting through your leftovers!

  8. I love the list making for events like this one. I always set goals that are unrealistic for me though. I can't usually get through more than two books and that is being generous. I can read super fast but the constant interruptions is what does me in. Even the dog gets in on the action. Hard to read with constant licks to my glasses.

    1. I usually do too. I've tried not to for this event, but we'll see how I do. Interruptions are what kill me as well. Boo!

  9. I haven't wrote my post yet, but I plan on joining the event. The Enchanted and The Namesake will both be in my tbr stack. I hope you get it all read.

  10. Commenting on 20 blogs sounds exhausting! :) But I guess it's do-able since it's over the span of a week...

    1. True! I thought about more, but a few a day should get me to 20.

    1. How come? Writing style, topics, or other about Lahiri that you don't enjoy? Thanks, Gautami!
