Bout of Books 10 Wrap Up!

Ahhh, what a glorious thing it is to READ READ READ! I had a very successful Bout of Books!

I achieved my goals for the week:
  1. Read three books (of any length)
  2. Read one book from my 2014 TBR Challenge stacks
  3. Visit and comment on at least 20 blogs from the list of participants
  4. Make two BookTube videos about my progress - see update post
I managed to finish:
  • The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
  • The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld
  • Sweet Tooth: Out of the Deep Woods (volume 1) by Jeff Lemire
  • Sweet Tooth: In Captivity (volume 2) by Jeff Lemire
I experienced:
  • The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. I read about 170 pages before I gave up on this one.
  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. This one is finally "sticking"!
Total Pages: 1,007
Total Time Reading: 14.5 hours

Overall I think I roughly doubled my reading this week. Maybe even tripled since I've been slumpy for a few months now. It feels SO GOOD to have read a bunch of books I love, and I can't wait to review them for ya!

  1. You did fantastic! I can't wait to read your review of The Enchanted. And yes, Sweet Tooth. I guess I'll get going on The Name of the Wind again, since I was waiting for you! Yay!

  4. Yay! What an awesome feeling! Too bad you had a DNF in there though. I ended the read-a-thon on a book I might have given up under other circumstances... it wasn't a great ending, but the rest of my books were great!

    1. It is an awesome feeling! I've been SO stuck for the last few months. I was mildly perturbed by the DNF, but I'm really glad I put it aside. It was slowing me down and keeping me from the really good stuff. Glad the majority of your books were winners!

  5. Good job! I was just the opposite. I didn't read a darned thing all week! I've been trying to catch up on blog-reading, as well as prepping for a trip later this week. Pulled weeds all day yesterday and tackled a few other spring projects. I'm hoping to get a lot of reading in while in Oregon...or at least on the flights to and fro.

    1. Thank you! I remember last year the Bout of Books really helped kickstart my summer reading, so I was hoping for the same this time around. It seems to have worked! You are super busy with traveling and weed pulling (makes my back hurt just thinking about it). I hope you can get some reading done on the plane!

  7. Hurray for being unstuck! I think this week helped me as well (I've been struggling to motivate myself to read beyond my assigned review copies each month). I mostly read assigned review copies this week to try to get ahead a little, but am hoping that now that I have some breathing room in my review schedule I can fit in books of my own selection a *bit* more in the coming weeks...

  12. Well done, meeting all your goals :) I would've loved to participate in a twitter chat and visited a few more blogs, but I'll try again next time. I am happy with the books I read, it's just so satisfying finishing a whole lot of books from you currently reading/TBR pile!

  14. Holy Crap that's a lot of reading!! I've been doing a fair amount, too, but those damn Outlander books are so long that it doesn't feel like I'm accomplishing much. I'm still trucking through Kitchen House. At about 180 pages it started getting much better--now I'm having a tough time putting it down. Still flat characters and all plot driven, but better. Ugh.

    Hope your reading streak continues!
