Top Ten Blogging Confessions! Ooohhhh, aaaaaahhhh!

Shit's about to get real with BLOGGING CONFESSIONS! This feels like a bad reality show already.

  1. Sometimes I just wanna play SIMS3. It's true. When I don't want to read or blog, SIMS3 it is.
  2. I hate accepting ARCs because the reading instantly feels like homework.
  3. But I'm a total hypocrite because I am quick to email a publishers if there's a book I really want to read.
  4. My blogging friends are often my ARC hookup.
  5. I get behind reading through Feedly and mark "all read." Not often, but it happens.
  6. I hate scripty and non-standard fonts on blogs when they are the post font. My eyes!
  7. Captcha. Turn it off.
  8. All of my posts are pre-scheduled because I am not good at flying by the seat of my pants.
  9. I'm still not sure if I love my new blog layout.
  10. I secretly long to move to Wordpress for some of the cool plug-ins, but it's daunting to think of moving a blog this old and vast.

    1. #10 is the biggest pain in my neck that I keep thinking about over and over lately. lol

  2. 7: Can't be saying enough! Turn. It. Off. God damn it, I hate captcha!

  3. I feel the same way about ARCs!

    1. Glad I'm not the only one!

  4. So much agreement!
I can't even read a blog that has scripty post font!
If I had to write a post instead of scheduling, I think the world would end.

    1. Yep, I turn tail and run from the scripts. LOL, I wrote one on the fly Sunday for the first time in foreverrrrr.

  5. I agree with you on captcha - I give up on commenting at times because I can't figure out the numbers or letters.

I schedule posts ahead too but it's because I'm anal! lol

    1. Same here, Kathy! And I'm a little anal too. Ok, a lot!

  6. All my stuff is scheduled, and I had never thought about it before but you're right...ARCs are a little homeworkesque which takes the shine out of them

    1. Yes!!! I can't shake that feeling. I'm all excited until I get 'em and then I have to read them. lol

  7. I'm guilty of #5 more often than I'd like to admit!

  8. I love Sims3! I've been been playing Sims since the original version were you could find all kinds of free outfits and stuff and plug them into your game. Very fun! Haven't played in ages! I hate captcha. I never can do it and I'm pretty sure google thinks I'm a robot.

    1. Me too, Katherine! I had soooooooooooooo many downloads for my game back in the day. Captcha is the devil.

  9. I am so with you on 2, 5-7 :) Loved your confessions!

  10. I'm highly amused that the Captcha comment was #7. Because when I emphatically wanted to agree with it, all I could think of was... SEVEN! SEVEN! SEVEN! SEVEN! SEVEN!

    1. LOLOL! One of my very fave moments in all of the Friends episodes!

  11. Captcha is just plain evil. And then, what I really don't understand, is you leave a comment, somehow decipher those letters and numbers, and then you see "your comment will appear after approval"! I mean, pick one!

    ARCs=homework. Sigh.

    1. Isn't it? YESSSS! Choose one level of moderation. Just pick! lol

  12. Well I will tell you that except for a few minor things, the move to Wordpress couldn't have been easier for me. I do wish that I would have told everyone BEFORE I moved because there are a few issues...but it seems that most regular people have followed me, so that's all I can care about. And I love your new look!

All of my posts are pre-scheduled because I get less hits if they are published any other time than midnight. I swear it. It's the most bizarre thing ever. So I RARELY RARELY post at any other time.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Interesting... I have never even noticed. (cuz I don't ever look at hit counts, probably. doh)

      Delete
    2. That's a thing, Trish! I've discussed with other blogging buddies and we have similar results. When you post at midnight you're catching the European crowd as they get up. I posted at 2am so it's hitting roughly 8am in the UK. Maybe I'll try midnight and catch the early risers. :)

  13. I am decidedly a pre-scheduler myself with the rare exceptions of mornings when I meant to finish a post the day before....Sometimes I finish a review or post in the morning and just hit publish. This girl likes her sleep too much at night!

    1. I do know how that goes, Lindsey! Sleep rules.

  14. I'm so with you on 6 and 7! Like, do you WANT to drive readers away with hard-to-read fonts and stop potential commenters with captcha?

    1. I know! I don't get it at all. That's not the way to be set apart! lol

  15. SIMS3 to you is television to me. I used to play SIMS, back when it was in its first incarnation and couldn't stop. I was obsessed. I finally weaned myself off it and haven't gone back since. I'm afraid it will hook me again and not let go this time. LOL

I have to schedule my posts too otherwise nothing gets posted.

    Great list, Andi!

    1. You're a strong woman for weaning off SIMS. I only play when I know I have a long time with nothing to do in front of me.

  16. Love your list! For #1, it's Farmville 2 for me. I just quit Candy Crush Saga a few months ago and now my daughter has me playing this.

    1. Candy Crush Saga sucked me in for awhile, but I was able to escape. Baking games are what get me now.

  17. When I moved from Blogger to WP it was seamless. I use the .com version though as I don't want to pay for the other.

I love to get the books BEFORE they come out. Yay for ARCs! But...big but...I hardly ever get them reviewed by the time they come out.

    1. That is heartening, Ti! And yes, I'm the same way. I rarely read them "on time."

  18. YES! Sims3 is one of my favorite things but I have to majorly limit myself otherwise a whole day will slip by without me realizing. I'm still not sure if I'm going to start investing in Sims4 yet.

    1. Me too, Emma! Otherwise time shrinks and it's been 6 hours and WHAT HAPPENED? I downloaded the paranormal expansion pack a few weekends ago, and I LOVE IT! I haven't investigated SIMS4 much yet. I'm still digging SIMS3!

  19. Great list! The Bachelor/Bachelorette is my SIMS3! And - I'm with you on #6 and #2...but more because I somehow feel worse about writing a critical review if I don't like the book with ARCs. Buying the book somehow releases me from these guilty feelings!!

    1. Oh yes! I used to be addicted but then I got rid of network TV. Just Netflix here, and it REALLY helps me not watch so much. And I know what you mean! I don't have any guilt if it's a book I bought.

  20. I hate CAPTCHA so much! And don’t feel bad about marking your feed as read - we’ve all done it even if we don’t admit it (I’ll admit it). Oh, and the blog looks great!

    1. Me too, lady, me too! And thank you! re: blog look. :)

  21. #5, 7, & 9 I could have written myself. #8 is my dream to become. . .flying by the seat of my pants is the story of my life. great list!

  22. I love the new layout :).
So jealous that you plan your posts before hand. I just read Shannon's confessions and she mentioned the same thing. I only wish I were organized enough for that :(. Sometimes I'm in the mood to write and realize I have nothing to talk about. I need to keep a list of ideas for those days lol.

    1. Awww, thanks, Chels! I found that by using my lunch hours or a few hours on the weekend, I can stay pre-scheduled for 1-2 weeks. I'm behind right now. Need to catch up! And I keep a bunch of half-finished drafts or notes on ideas in my blogger interface. It works like my blogging "to do" list. :)

  23. I'm with you on number 2!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I recommend you do number 10 because blogger should die in a fire but I understand it is a little tricky (I think you can pay someone to do it and make it look seamless.

I hate ARCs too, I want to read what I want. I'm trying to clear off my Netgalley and Edelweiss so I can never use them again. Physical books or it won't get read anytime soon

    1. LOL, tell me how you really feel about Blogger, Michael. ;) I would definitely pay someone to move my stuff. I just don't have the stress and anxiety available to do it myself.

I have delved back into ARCs a bit lately, but I'm trying not to torture myself.

  25. Love this post! I must admit that switching from Blogger to WordPress was the best decision I ever made for my blog. I don't self-host, though, but I had so many problems with Blogger that I've never looked back

    ReplyDelete

    1. Thanks, Anna! I don't have so many problems with Blogger anymore. The early days were ROUGH. But occasionally something supremely annoying will pop up and make me reconsider.

  26. I hate captcha almost as much as I hate getting spam comments on a blog I've previously commented on and have subscribed to follow-ups.

I've been happy enough with Blogger, but will kick myself a thousand times if it all disappears without any warning.

Scheduling posts? Ha! I can barely write one a week, so there's really no need to schedule it. :) Maybe someday I'll catch up and have all sorts of time to do more blogging. It's always such a juggle. Read? Blog? Comment?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Me too!

Don't say that out loud re: Blogger. lol

It is a juggling act. My commenting has been suffering most lately.

  27. Oh my gosh yes on the ARCs. I very rarely accept them because the second I HAVE to read it I no longer want to. Also, all of my posts are pre-scheduled too. For me it takes a lot of the pressure out of blogging.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm also a bit of a closet Sims 3 addict!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 2 and 3 - confessions only a blogger would understand! I feel absolutely the same way. Especially when I end up looking at my ARC books and wondering what made me accept them in the first place and then not even reading them!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ah, SIMS was my distraction of choice before Gage. I have played Sims 3 but feel guilty about it now. Somehow I don't feel that same guilt when I check FB 100 times a day. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't play the sims regularly, but I definitely still binge on it occasionally! I think I find it relaxing to imagine a world where the way to be successful is so obvious - the opposite of grad school uncertainty!

    ReplyDelete
  32. CAPTCHA!! Such a pet peeve of mine!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh I'd like to move to Wordpress too but I'm too daunted about how to do it. What do you use?

    ReplyDelete

Thanks for taking the time to comment! Blogger has been a beast lately, so I hope you do not have any troubles leaving your thoughts.
