I hereby express my intentions to participate in the BOUT OF BOOKS 11! Let it be heard far and wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide.

OK, enough pageantry. Books! Readathon! Now, why couldn't this readathon come one week earlier when my son was at his dad's? The universe (I first typed "university" and that's a Freudian slip if there ever was one) just didn't see fit to make it so. Oh well!

So what will I be reading? I've been on a major comics bender lately. This week already I've delved into the new Ms. Marvel series, and I knocked off most of Lumberjanes in an evening, so I bet there will be more comics! Just an educated guess.

I get hold of my copy of The Paying Guests, Sarah Waters' new book, on August 14, so you can bet I'll be slipping quickly into that one.

And I have an interlibrary loan book, The Undertaking of Lily Chen, by Danica Novgorodoff, that I need to read. I've tested out a few pages, and so far it's a great mix of intriguing premise and gorgeous artwork.

I think I'm in the mood for one or more of these babes, too. Sweetness #9, by Stephan Eirik Clark; How to Tell Toledo From the Night Sky, by Lydia Netzer; and Tell the Wolves I'm Home, by Carol Rifka Brunt.

So many options, so few hours in the day.

Goals:
  • Read 500 pages (of however-many books)
  • Read at least one novel (can't live on comics alone)
  • Participate in at least one challenge

What will you be reading?

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 18th and runs through Sunday, August 24th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 11 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

  13. I LOVE when people do Bout of Books! The update posts are my absolute favourite lol. Your selection sounds fantastic and I can't wait to hear what you think of the new Waters. I tried reading The Little Stranger last year and it just didn't work for me. I'm contemplating trying this one instead!
I also can't wait to hear what someone else thinks of Toledo! It was so weird, but oddly also hard to put down lol. And Tell the Wolves I'm Home has been on my to-read pile for ages!
Enjoy!!! Can't wait for all your updates :).

  16. I hope you enjoy Lily Chen more than I did. It is very macabre and kind of slow. But interesting.
