I'm stewing with "Lady Lazarus":
Out of the ash
I rise with my red hair
And I eat men like air.
I'm mad as hell and just trying to funnel that feeling into positive action.
I'm not reading much on paper, but I'm listening to Lincoln in the Bardo, and I love it. I'm stretching it out, savoring every word. I'm not usually much for old white guys who play with form, but I'm into this.
I love you all for being awesome. I'm glad I'm still here, limping along, knowing you good people, after more than a decade.

Happy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteCarl has diagnosed himself with PESD - Post Election Stress Disorder - and it sounds like you might have it as well.
Hahah, that sounds just about right to me, too. Thank you, Kathy!
DeleteYay for 12 years! Yeah, the anger is real. I am trying to write more, lose myself in art I love, and also take breaks from the stream of bad news as necessary.
ReplyDeleteI've had to do that, too. Especially the taking a break from news, though I feel guilty when I do that. Right now I'm getting back into the swing of making calls and steeling myself against the onslaught of crap about liberal universities.
DeleteI am mad as all hell too, and I don't know what I'd do without my online community. Happy twelve years, and thanks for being you. <3
ReplyDeleteRight? It's so good to have support here, and I personally don't have it in everyday right-here-at-home life. Thank you for being awesome, Jenny!
Delete12 years - congrats!! That is awesome :) Keep sharing with us - love your posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nadia!
DeleteYep, I remember when you first started talking about "blogging" back on the Yahoo site we belonged to. Seems like another lifetime ago, doesn't it? My 11th blogiversary was last week and I completely forgot to post about it...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're here, sharing your thoughts on books, life, politics, love, family and community. Here's to many more years, dear friend!
Lord, yes. It was a lifetime ago, it seems. Thank you for being a constant friend, Les, and always such a positive person. I adore you.
DeleteHappy blog birthday! 12 years is like... 80-something in blog years. Or is that dog years? Anyway, it's pretty dang impressive. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, dog years and blog years are pretty darn similar, I'm convinced. Thank you so much. :)
DeleteYay for 12 years of blogging! That is amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteMy thought is that as long as everyone stays mad as Hell things are going to work out okay. It's when people start getting used to it and giving in and stop being angry that we could be in trouble. (Also easier said than lived, coming from Canada. But we've got your news streaming in all day every day up here, too, and we're with you.)
That's my thought, too, re: mad as hell. It's hard to sustain but it's necessary, and it's heartening to see the resistance. Love you to, Naomi!
DeleteI pitched Lincoln in the Bardo to my book club for this year's list and it was selected! Yay me! I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSS! It's going to be such a great book club pick!
DeleteHappy blogoversary, I assume. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank ya!
DeleteThere was a really cool interview with George Saunders on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert recently - check it out! He has Trump-itis, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to check that out. I watched a live Facebook interview this past week and enjoyed it so much. I'll ferret out the Late Show appearance, for sure. Like, now.
DeleteYay - happy dance for 12 years! And positivity is freaking hard these days, but just trying to channel it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tanya Patrice! It is hard, but we persist. :) Love your face!
DeleteCongratulations on 12 years of blogging! I love the way you're channeling your rage into poetry and teaching.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steph! Gotta do something. Poetry seems like a better and better choice these days. Especially when reading something lengthier eludes me.
DeleteHappy Blogiversary!! I loved Lincoln in the Bardo so much that I bought a paper copy. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm DEFINITELY going to buy a paper copy as well. I loved it so much more than I ever expected to.
DeleteCongratulations on 12 years!!! I really enjoy reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lori! I wish I was more consistent writing these days, but it comes and goes. :)
DeleteHoly crap, 12 years??? That's incredible! Congrats on this -- and thanks for sharing yourself with so many for so long. I know I've improved reading you -- I'm grateful. (and also, pretty much shaking w rage, every effin' day...)
ReplyDeleteThat means so much, Audra. Especially coming from you. I just adore you and following your reading and your sweet family. <3
DeleteWow, 12 years?? That's quite an accomplishment. Congrats, Andi!
ReplyDeleteThank you, JoAnn! You're one of my favorite people online. Love following you so much!
DeleteHappy Bloggiversary, Andi! Love your blog and your fierce spirit! Wishing you many more blogging years. Oh and thank you for the Lady Lazarus link. I'm right there with you and need to read this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Iliana! Right back at you, my friend. Lady Lazarus is a MUST!
DeleteI'm glad you're still here too, Andi! I enjoy hearing from you and find your blog very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie! I appreciate your kind words so much, and you kick ass. :)
DeleteTHIS IS AMAZING! I'm so glad that I found you, even though I don't really remember how; thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Keep on being your amazing self, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI am so behind on reading blog posts but I still wanted to stop in and say that I am very, very happy that you are still doing this thing after a dozen years because you are inspiring and intelligent and frequently give me food for thought. I am proud and lucky to count you as a friend. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 12 years! Your blog is one of my favorites. I've learned a lot about blogging from you over the years.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for sticking with blogging for this long and for persisting through rough times!! I continue to find you an inspiration in the book blogging community, even (especially?) when you're not talking about books.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary! Kudos for always making your blog yours and giving your readers a place to vent right along with you!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are here! I've been slow with blogging lately but every now and then I jump on. I love your instagram posts and look at them all the time.
