Drinks in the Library #1: TBR for #ReadSoulLit and #ReadingBlackOut

Happy Sunday! Yesterday was a livestreaming day, so I'm posting the video to share with you today. I shared my TBR for the #ReadSoulLit and #ReadingBlackOut events. To recap, I'll be reading African-American authors exclusively for the first quarter of 2018.

On my immediate, physical TBR:

  • Fledgling by Octavia Butler
  • Blood Child: Stories by Octavia Butler
  • Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward
  • The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
  • The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
  • Paradise by Toni Morrison (need to get Jazz!)
  • Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde
  • The Book of Night Women by Marlon James
Of course this doesn't even begin to touch my digital books and the ones I'll end up downloading or grabbing from the library. I'm excited!

Yesterday was my first Drinks in the Library livestream on Facebook Live. Right after Facebook Live I hopped over to try streaming on Instagram! There were definitely more available viewers on Insta, and we decided we'll have a Drinks in the Library stream on Saturday, January 13 at 2pm Central that will revolve around bookish bullet journaling! I'm definitely no expert in this area, so I have nothing to teach, but if any of you have been doing it for a while and would like to stream with me, just let me know! I'll be posting reminders on Insta and Twitter throughout the week.

For now, here's the Facebook Livestream about my TBR. Click the image to view the video:

  5. The Book of Night Women is so good; if you get a chance to listen to it, I definitely recommend that route. Salvage The Bones and The Underground Railroad both made my best-of lists for the years I read them, too.
