An "Eh" Kind of Day...

Today was "eh." Know what I mean? Nothing spectacular, slightly lazy, but not overly unfulfilling.

I got up this morning and went for my usual workout. So far, in the last 3 weeks, I've lost about 10 pounds. My collarbones are sticking out nicely and my pajama pants are barely hangin' on. Gotta love it.

After my workout I finished up Little Earthquakes. Jennifer Weiner is a goddess. Given, the books are chick lit, but she's soooo funny. I was beginning to go into convulsions because she hadn't blogged since last Wednesday, but she finally posted an entry today. Now I can sleep. Whew! It was touch and go there for a few days.

What else did I do today? Ummmm, stuff for tomorrow. My classes are going to be a breeze for me tomorrow. Here's the schedule (like you care, but I don't want to go to sleep yet).

8:40-9:40 - English Lab - Homonyms quiz should take up the whole hour
11-12 - English Lab - Vocabulary quiz #1. Better not take the whole hour.
12-1 - English Class - one-on-one conferencing about their essays they wrote over the weekend
1-2:15 - Reading Class - We're covering the 2nd Relationships chapter. They're doing group work so I don't have to lecture for a change.

I'll be taking a book with me, for sure. I think I'm going to attempt The Beauty Myth again. Non-fiction sounds good right about now. I got extremely bored reading the "Work" section tonight...about how beauty is used against women in the workplace. There were technical terms, blah blah. I skipped to the "Culture" section, and now I'm much more amused.

The rest of my day:
  • Played with the pups
  • Watched Ellen
  • Looked up my 1098 forms so I can get my taxes done this week
  • Showered
  • Cooked dinner (pan-seared cajun tilapia, corn, and hushpuppies for Mom)
  • Watched American Idol with Mom (Bo Bice, you make me proud!)
  • Played SIMS2
  • Blogging as we speak

See, just a regular, lazy'ish day. I need to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow so I can be at the DMV to get my new address put on my license when they open. Somehow, I don't think it's gonna happen.

On the docket for tomorrow:

  • Corral my crazy hair
  • Teach
  • Work out twice
  • Grade journals
  • Read more Beauty Myth
  • Get to bed EARLIER

G'nite my lovelies. Expect a post about Lori Earley very soon. She's the one that painted the picture I have posted on my profile.

Girls' Night Strikes Again....

Actually, the last two nights were girls' night. Hmm. Anyway, last night my friend Crystal, from university (I said university, Dena! Woot!) and I went to my friend Amanda's (also from university) Spring Show. Amanda is a Spanish teacher and Drill Team (dance team for those of you not from these here parts) director at a high school about 40 minutes from here. Every year they have the big Spring Show, and I do mean BIG SPRING SHOW. The town is small, but I think everyone and their uncle show up for the Spring Show. The girls do about 12 routines, there are singers that do 3-4 numbers in between routines, there's always a band for intermission, and there's even a Master of Ceremonies (Randy...every year). Amanda and her mom and sister are psychos for a few months before the show...culminating with ultimate psychosis in the week prior, but it always turns out great.

Crystal came over to meet me at our new house and get the tour, and then I drove us to Bonham for the show. We didn't get lost!! That's a first. Crystal and I are really good at getting lost, but luckily we're also good at getting unlost. We made a run to Amanda's house to pick up our tickets from her mailbox, and then we went to the auditorium. Her mom had roped off seats for us (VIP treatment), and we enjoyed the show very much.

Amanda is the cutest thing since toast. She's a dancer....she's been clogging for most of her lifetime, and she took dance lessons for years. Now she coaches the drill team and she teaches at a local dance school. I think she's on the state clogging team or something equally impressive. Anyway, they had a performance to The Devil Went Down to Georgia (thank you Charlie Daniels), and the girls dressed up as Johnny, and Amanda was the devil. We missed it a few years ago when we first went to the show (got severely lost that year), but this year the theme was "War Dancer Reruns" so we got to see it again. So cuuuute! And Amanda is so good.

The show went off without a hitch, and then we grabbed meatball subs at Subway (messyyy!), and went back to Amanda's house for a girly chat. As usual we didn't get out of there until the early morning hours.

Overall, a very fulfilling evening of catching up and top-notch Amanda-provided entertainment. Dance on sista!

Emotionally stunted fish and Friday indulgences....

Friday is my favorite day of the week because I don't have to work. In fact, I don't even have to think about work until Sunday sometime...and, actually, sometimes I don't even think about it until Monday. Anyhoo, Friday is the beginning of my weekend. Does that mean I get to lay around like a sloth? Nope, not so much.

Today, the biggest "to-do" on my list is to clean my fish tank. I've been putting it off and putting it off, and now I have a really nice fish tank with a not-so-nice green glow. The emotionally stunted part of the title of this pointless entry refers to my fish. My fish are shy and/or emotionally scarred. The tank has two frothy plastic plants in the back, a nice big rock in the middle, and the fish stay in the plants and behind the rock. It looks like I have an empty fish tank gracing my bedroom because one only sees the fish if one twists their body into a grotesque, most unpleasant position to peer behind the rock and into the plants. I refer to my fish as "the FB's" (finned babies). It's just too bad I never see them. Well, unless it's feeding time and then they turn into piranhas.

On a lighter-than-cleaning-algae note, Friday is also my favorite day of the week because it's my "eat anything I want" day. When I'm dieting I always allot myself one day of the week when I can eat anything I want. It keeps me from losing my mind and ditching the diet in favor of flavor. So what's on the menu you ask???

1) Exercise....first thing this morning (right after I get my bootay offline).

2) Not sure about lunch....probably something with a side of mac & cheese.
3) A popcorn snack at some point.
4) Dinner at the little "greasey spoon" cafe down the street. I think fried cajun catfish will be my drug of choice tonight with some fries on the side.
5) DESSERT!!! Cheesecake to be exact.

And tomorrow it's back to lettuce and eggs. Whee!
