After a few requests, I'm also sharing some of my fave BookTubers. There's really something for everyone, but these are the channels I've been stalking.
Ricquetta at Nerd In Translation - She's currently hosting a 30 Day Reading Challenge. Are you ready for this? Read ONE BOOK PER DAY for 30 days! A few bloggers have changed this up to be a set number of pages per day for 30 days. I was tempted, but I know the ebb and flow of work and mothering would not allow it.

Mercedes from Mercy's Bookish Musings -- I adore her recommendations and her reviews. She's very thoughtful in her reviews, and her book picks are intriguing!
Lesley from Words of a Reader also reads and reviews a delightful breadth of books, and her reviews are very thorough.
Sanne from Books and Quills reads a range of books, and her videos are brisk and charming.
Didi of FrenchieDee is a teacher of English in France! I love her attitude and her great facial expressions. She's a lot of fun.
And let's not forget our own blogger friend, Brooke, from Blog of the Litwits!
OH! and I can't forget Chelsea from Chels and a Book. I'd never "met" her before BookTubing, but I'm so glad to have found her. We've been running in the same bloggy circles all this time!
Do you have any interest in BookTubing? Have you ever thought of video blogging?
Ooh I've not watched some of these guys, will have to have a look :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Hope you like!
DeleteI'm so impressed with all of you - I avoid the camera like the plague and am sure I'd stumble along and make no sense if I attempted to make a video.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! You notice, I don't care if my hair or makeup are done. This is one more step toward "freedom in blogging." LOL, maybe too much!
DeleteLoved this! Loved seeing and hearing you. 'Texas twang' is one of the best accents! It seems that most (all?) of the BookTubers are young, don't you think??
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely a trend toward younger BookTubers, and there's also a trend toward international BookTubers. It's an interesting community, though it's not wholly international and young. lol
DeleteWhat a fun post! I love finding new bloggers to follow (or watch!).
ReplyDeleteNew as in new to me, I mean. ;)
DeleteYayyy! I hope you like. I subscribe to SO many, there was just no way to do many more than this. Maybe I'll make it a feature.
DeleteWow - it makes sense! I'm surprised I've not thought of it before. Have fun Andi!
ReplyDeleteCare, I'd never thought of it either until some other bloggers and vloggers opened my eyes!
DeleteI so wish I had the guts to vlog. These fears, I have them!
ReplyDeleteAwww, no fear, Shannon!
DeleteGreat post! I'm not sure I could vlog on a regular basis because I hate the sound of my own voice (and I'd have to put on make-up), but I'm intrigued by the format.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tasha! I've done a few vlogs sans makeup (scary). And I don't particularly like my voice either, but I like "talking" to people. So this is a fun addition to my blogging habits.
DeleteWe love listening to your Texas twang and seeing you. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara! :D
DeleteI love that you're doing this girl! I'm not nearly brave enough ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I wasn't sure how my blog readers would like it when I started. I certainly don't see it as a replacement for reviews -- just another facet. :)
DeleteThere you go again, completely opening my eyes to a whole new world. Wait a minute, are you a teacher? ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, Bellezza! The teacherly speaking skills definitely take some of the fear out of one-take vlogging.
DeleteI'm with Bellezza. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know about booktubing! You wrote something about it in an earlier post, but I had no idea! Thanks for clarifying. I've started following Riquetta and joined the 30 Day Reading Challenge. Good luck with the challenge.
ReplyDeleteGlad to share, Vasilly!!! I hope it's something you'll enjoy checking out. And I'm so glad you're doing the 30 Day Reading Challenge!
DeleteThanks for sharing a little info about book tubing!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Deb!
DeleteInteresting! But I have to say, what I love about blogging is the reading and writing part. Blogging lets me write in a semi-creative way and that's what I enjoy -- I write better than I speak. Plus I don't even like being in photos, so my face in a video just doesn't appeal.
ReplyDeleteBut congrats on the new venture, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I hear ya. And I love those things about blogging. I just like the idea of being able to address my audience in spoken format, too. It can feel a great deal like chatting with a girlfriend. I think that's why I've gotten so addicted! But I don't ever see it as a replacement to blogging. Just a supplement. :)
DeleteThese videos were fun to watch! And isn't it nice that this has brought upon a new motivation for you in regards to blogging. I love that feeling when blogging feels fresh, fun, and almost new again. Enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Samantha! YES! That feeling of freshness is rare, so I'm totally in love right now.
DeleteI love watching video blogs but can't imagine ever doing it myself. I suppose everyone started out struggling to make it look good and to be smooth about it but I'm not I have the patience to get to that point.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Lisa! I said the same thing, until I realized I can do it with my phone, on the fly. My teacherly speaking skills help me when I'm doing a one-take vlog. It doesn't cut out the "ummms" but that 10 years of practice has helped me think on my feet.
DeleteI adore your accent. I wonder if I have a Georgia accent? Hummmm... One of these days I will get brave enough to Vlog. I've marked these post to come back to. I forgot my headphones, but I am really eager to check out "booktube"
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda! You probably do not. Even Texans tell me all the time what a TX accent I have. I hope you enjoy the vids when you come back to them, and I hope you decide to video blog!
DeleteThis is really a lot of fun. Love seeing book blogging on video! Not sure if I'll ever do this myself but I know I'll have fun watching all vlogs - thanks for all the links! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Iliana! I hope you enjoy!
DeleteI had no idea this was such a thing!!! I have done a handful of vlogs but mostly they've been cheering vlogs for the readathon rather than review vlogs. Unfortunately because I'm usually checking blogs at work and video is blocked there I won't have much opportunity to watch many of these videos.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I'm sorry you won't get to watch more, Trish. They're really fun, and I find myself watching/listening in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work or when I need a brain break. They're so entertaining! Like chatting with a friend about books.
DeleteThank you so much for putting me up on your recommendation list of Booktubers!! I'm truly flattered. It's been fun talking about books but most of all meeting and befriending people who love books just as much as me. Hope you keep at the video making because we need as many good vloggers who talk about something other than YA. That's not me hating. It jus that seeing 50 reviews on the same John Green book starts to get a little sterile. So blog, vlog, vlog!!! :D
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome!!! Thank you for stopping by my blog. :D And I know what you mean. I read a wide variety of books -- not one genre in particular, so I love finding other vloggers who read an eclectic mix and not a majority YA.
DeleteAndi, you sound exactly the way I would have expected: utterly adorable. Love the accent. I rock a weird combination of East Coast/Marylander/Southern/D.C. (we really do say "war-shington"), and it's so fun to "see" bloggy friends :)
ReplyDeleteI had no idea BookTubing was a thing, though I'm not surprised! Folks are so awesome and creative, and I can't wait to check out their reviews! Not sure I'd be brave enough to do a video myself -- I'm forever a nerdy writer -- but I really admire you and others for creating them!
I was looking for some good book vloggers, might need to start with your recommendations.
ReplyDeleteI'm really weird about listening to videos, all videos not just book related ones. I have to be in the mood, haha. I watched one of yours and really liked it! I'm going to bookmark this and watch them and try to start watching more booktube videos. I love the added emotion and enthusiasm! I also enjoy your accent and I'm excited to see every vidder's accent. I love all accents.
